Hello again. Here's a longer response concerning problems with getting JAWS
to use the script files for DBT 10.5.
Using the JAWS script files for DBT 10.5, the Insert+Q (or JawsKey+Q) command does not work properly. Even if the JAWS script files for DBT are in effect, the Insert+Q command does not tell you that.
However, if the JAWS script files for DBT are in effect, then pressing
Insert+H describes the JAWS keystrokes set up for DBT, such as Alt+8 to hear
the current style and Alt+9 to hear the current location (in the formatted
view).
If you've recently installed a new version of JAWS, then DBT 10.5 does not automatically install the JAWS script files for DBT into your new JAWS settings folder. In addition, it has come to our attention that the JAWS script files that are part of DBT 10.5 have a problem compiling under JAWS 7.10. It is possible to fix this problem by editing the file dbtw.jss in the JAWS script manager. Just change all occurrences of
VCTX_SCREEN
to
VCTX_JAWSCURSOR
There are two of these occurrences to change.
These issues are fixed in DBT 10.6, currently in beta testing. DBT 10.6 also does a better job of making sure that the JAWS script files are in place whenyou run DBT. For example, using DBT 10.6, you won't have to reinstall the JAWS script files for DBT manually after installing a new version of JAWS.
Sincerely, Caryn

When in Duxbury, press insert- [JAWS key]-q. That should tell you what
JAWS scripts are loaded.

I don't think my Jaws scripts are loaded either. I went to the Jaws folder under DBT and copied all the script files and pasted them into my Personal Settings folder under Freedom Scientific, Jaws, Enu...whatever the exact path is. But when I restart Jaws I still don't think they're loading. How can I find out for sure?
Also, when I installed DBT 10.5, I changed the installation path to put the program under the Program Files folder like all my other applications. Could that be a problem either for this or for future upgrades, or should that not matter?
Jean
