Dear Jeff; I normally just sit on the sidelines and observe and when I do speak I sometimes get it wrong but I just can?t sit back and say nothing. I not sure how much you know about programming but in the last 13 years major leaps have been made in programing. That is the main reason programs have upgrades you may not need all the bells and whistles but as in your case you do need some of the fixes and patches. In 1999 most people only embossed in 11 ½ by 11. This is not to say that you can?t do what you need you just can?t do it by clicking or unclicking a box or simply selecting from a pull down menu. This the reason they made the two suggestions. The upgrade would make it where you could just click or unclick a box or select from a pull down menu and I can understand in today?s economy that the price is a true consideration. The other option, however, may indeed be what you need and yes the technician may suggest an upgrade, he or she can also help you in manually adding the commands to your computer, embosser and or program to enable you to emboss 8 ½ by 11. And, yes I did mention you might have to make changes to all three and that can be involved that?s the reason for suggesting an upgrade but not a requirement. I would recommend giving the technical support a try they do care and will help you as much as they can. Remember, if you work with them they?ll work for you. There is a checkbox in the version 10 I am running and I think I am confused on the Bookmaker's menus. I get the feeling that you guys work on commission for selling Duxbury and find it disappointing at the least on the comments concerning the age of the software. I choose not to upgrade due to the type of brailing I am doing and do not want to continue to shell out $$$ for features I will never use. It will cost around $400 to upgrade which is why I am trying to work this out and I assume even if I call technical support I will be encouraged to upgrade. I really thought this list serve was to help resolve braille printing issues, not to insult those using older versions of the same product. How do I set the Duxbury program and embosser to emboss single side 8x11-1/2 paper? I tried changing the settings in Duxbury without success. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
