Hi Peter: For me this is becoming more complicated by the minute. The mistranscribed capitals, only occur in html files that I have converted to text via a dos utility called htmlstrip. This program will convert multiple files en masse. It has an .INI file a mile long, and it may well be a configuration option in there. The other issue for me is what gets retained in the registry, if anything at all once I have uninstalled all "dbt's" resident on my win98 system. i would love to purge the registry and start from scratch. As I am transcribing files to be read on a braille lite M40 which uses a non-standard character display, E.G. the following have opposite values: left and right brackets, braces backslash, bar caret tilde accent sign, at Although perhaps seemingly irrelevant, a good subset of signs using dots 7-8 are nondisplayable, I need these in reading unicode characters, especially those which represent braille, each of wich come up in 80dot braille, three characters in length. Someone named Cora Chang, has developed a font to display these characters, otherwise, I think they look like garbage, they certainly aren't printable but will display correctly on the braille display, although not in the notetaker. I am trying to set up an embosser configuration, in which the text can be printed to a file, using a mac style eol, a single <cr>, no form-feeds, and my saved template will have no braille or reference page numbers. No matter how much I uninstall and re-install, Dbt seems to retain some saved settings. However, generally I can't access the advanced embosser setup dialog in the global embosser setup. It is listed but I can't reach it. If this can be done with a mouse It won't work with a simulated mouse in Window-eyes. On one occasion, very mysteriously, I could access this dialogue, but the okay button was disabled, and there were a number of options I did not fully understand, and as far as I know these are not documented, although George would probably have the last word on this. When I did try to print to file, I got an error message that there was a mistake in line negative one. I realize, I am using DBT in some non-mainstream ways, and there are dozens of work arounds. But in my final analysis, I wonder how many of problems we are having is due to the registry entries, and if uninstalling everything cleanly deletes these. For anybody interested inreading Unicode braille equivalents for braille characters on a braille display, I am attaching the utf-8 unicode table I derived from a large data file. It lists the fields in the following order hex number between U2800-28FF html entity reference followed by a semicolon The three character utf-8 display and finally the dot patterns for all 256 values. The file attachment is called utf8.txt, but it is obviously a binary file, so some mail protocol or other might possibly mangle it. I think each line ends with a carriage return only. Please scan this for viruses to be on the safe side.
