Jack, Émile, and all interested: This is an especially tricky issue for us, because it involves so many different things. Consider that, if you are reading the braille document using a braille display, all of these transformations must be in order for this to work properly: 1. The translation from print to braille must work properly. 2. Your screen reader must be set to recognize particular ANSI characters and render them with particular dot patterns. This is sometimes called a code page. 2. Global, Internationalization must be set in DBT so that we antipate the code page in use by the screen reader. There is an analogous, but separate set of issues when it comes to driving a braille embosser, or saving a "raw braille". Jack has mentioned to me before how the lack of a unified worldwide standard for raw braille representation can cause confusion. I suspect that this issue is just a case in point. Or, if it's not, then the problem we have is knowing which one of the transformations in DBT contains the bug. - Peter -----Original Message----- From: duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jack Maartman Sent: Friday, May 28, 2004 1:20 PM To: duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxhelp] Re: Shortcut preferences Hi Emile: Thank you. I don't know why the capital sign is coming out as dots 4-5 in my versions of the beta, but I know it is not the way it is coded in the translation tables. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Émile Ouellet" <emile@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, May 27, 2004 8:20 PM Subject: [duxhelp] Re: Shortcut preferences > Hi Jack, > > I'm not sure if I understand correctly your question. > > Here, if I create a print document (.dxp) with words contening capitals > letters, in french, with, french, french uncontracted or french quebec > tables, the result is te same, the capital letter is converted correctly. > dots 4-6 before the letter. > > Émile > ----- Message d'origine ----- > De : "Jack Maartman" <jmaartman@xxxxxxxxxxx> > À : <duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Envoyé : 27 mai 2004 22:22 > Objet : [duxhelp] Re: Shortcut preferences > > > Hi Emile > > Does the capital sign print correctly in the French braille tables.
