thanks for the clarification on the issue concerning the speaking of
selected text. I
was misunderstanding your report, just as you thought. But to the best of
my knowledge, the speaking of selected text in braille has had this problem
ever since DBT 10.5, when we first added the JAWS script files. These JAWS
script files do not override the bilt-in JAWS handling of selecting and
unselecting text. If I'm wrong about this, please contradict me with more
information.
Now on to the issue about extra spaces appearing on your braille display
when you switch between coded view and formatted view in a braille document.
Peter and I have
been checking this out, and we find that this problem is not a new one.
However, you can eliminate this problem with a different choice of the font
size for displaying your braille documents. You probably weren't
experiencing this problem in DBT 10.5 and 10.6 because you had already made
that font adjustment. The font adjustment that you made in DBT 10.5 was
automatically carried over into the global settings for DBT 10.6. But alas,
in RC1 for DBT 10.6 SR1, the settings that you had in DBT 10.6 were lost.
This is similar to the reports
of lost embosser settings, and it will be fixed in the next release
candidate.
Here's how to fix the problem that you are experiencing now. This works for
me in the various JAWS versions that I have checked: 8.0, 7.10, and 6.10.
In DBT's Global settings - Fonts,Change the font point size to 10 or less
for the font that DBT is using to display braille. If you set DBT to use
the print font for showing braille, then change the Print font point size to
10 or less. If you set DBT to use the Braille or SimBraille font for
showing braille, then change the Braille/SimBraille font point size to 10 or
less. When I make this change in the Global settings, it is still there as
I want it the next time I launch DBT.

My show cursor locator when shift is pressed is unchecked already.
I just want to be sure I haven't confused you. The oddity is that
when I am highlighting lines in the Braille document, it speaks the
braille words instead of the print words like it used to do. When you
used the word "extraneous " it made me think that you might be
thinking that it is reading extra words.
My "Active follows braille is unchecked.
In case it matters, I have JFW set to Line mode as it usually is.
