Lissa,

One more approach is possible. Because F8 now displays a dialog with the
last-applied style (linear or nestable) already highlighted, if you have a
series of things to italicize, all but the first can be italicized by
highlighting the text, then pushing F8 Enter.

Lissa,

I should add that if you a program such as Macro Express, which can lurk for
keys while DBT is running and turn them into key sequences, then you can get
this job done yourself pretty easily. Map your preferred shortcut into a
macro that enters F8 italic Enter

Ah, I see, I think. It's a bit counterintuitive: I go to the menu and I see
"apply style" and "apply last style," so I assumed that I could apply any
style that was in the above style list (in this case, italics).

Is there any way to "quickly" turn highlighted text into italics in a dxp
file? Thanks.
