If you guys really want to go crazy with this world creation stuff.
Look for the (out-of-print) RPG book Aria:Worlds.  It's a great tool for
creating world, cultures, and organizations.  It has tables if you want
to go completely random (but still make sense), and you can play the
world's development and history as a game.
