I don’t know the technical explanation but suspect that clouds just need to
take a diet and get skinny to make it over the mountains from BC.
I remember puffy clouds during our summer vacations on Lake Winnipeg and in
Northern Idaho too.

I’ve noticed an interesting thing from both personal observation and the
wonderful pictures of sunrises and sunsets. Back in BC, the majority of clouds
are puffy ones, like the cartoon clouds. Here, at least thus far, the clouds
look as if the have been grabbed at both ends and stretched, making a thin
elongated shape.
