Some months ago, a Telus sign up bestowed an iPad 8 on me.
It is the worst excuse for a tablet it has ever been my misfortune to own.
Apple (thank god I got AppleCare for it) has sent a replacement to me five
times. None of them nor the current one have worked properly. I have
spent hours on the phone with Apple, once again today. I would love to
simply return this pos to them for a credit but that seems unlikely.
I have tried to keep in contact with my home insurance company and the
renovators. Posts shown up on the welcome page then disappear. Unless I
phone to confirm, I have no confidence that my posts are delivered.
IMessages are not delivered or received.
The screen is marginally responsive. By that I mean sometimes it works,
often it does not. I might tap ten times or more before giving up.
Shading or placing the cursor is a hit and miss proposition.
Yet aside from electronic messaging of any sort, Messenger excepted (I
think) simply does not work. I have been on computers for many years.
Prior to this pos iPad 8, I rarely had any issues, even when using a Thai
keyboard. I have formatted pcs many times. After switching to Apple, a
few issues but all of those settled easily enough.
In addition to replacement machines, I was also directed to one of two
Apple repair facilities. They sold me a new charger and thought that would
help. Aside from speeding up charging, nothing changed.
So, I have returned, like a couple of my Internet friends, to using my
ten-year plus iPad mini. Oh yes. An hour on the phone this AM with
screenshare on both the iPad and the iPhone. Several changes, none of
which changed anything. I was given a call back number. No call back.
Now, I admit my mind is not working as it used too these days. But the
iPad 8 - at least in my experience, is a terrible tablet...
