Oh dear. Having spent most of my life in BC, I am sure to be a dissenting
voice in ploiitical discussions. More Liberal than NDP I have avoided
political discussions here in Red Deer and close the drapes when watching.
MSNBC.
Well I am a bit occupied at the moment…
An undetected leak ie the pluming ended up causing over $20,000 damage to my
home. The service by Wawanesa has been top notch. Homes of this era (1970s
and 1980s) used a plastic pipe know as poly B. Subject to thousands of law
suits an a large settlement, the pipe decayed from the inside so there was
noway to detect a fault before it happened. So, thank the gods I had insurance.
So at my cost, I had a plumber tear out all the poly B replacing it with the
current standard. As the water heater was over its life expectancy, that got
replaced too.
my home is currently like any home in a renovation. I cannot find anything and
the mess is terrible.
This comes after a series of little and big things that seemed to go sideways.
I am concerned that I have most of the symptoms of early stage dementia but
self diagnosis based on internet sites is not a way to confirm illness. What
with hip, knees, and back, aging is certainly interesting…
While I live in splendid isolation, my rabbit, Amelia, has filled a void in my
life. A very good bunny. I am Leary of taking her for a walk (a very bad
disease is killing off rabbits all over North America ( whole colonies) and we
have feral rabbits about which could be carriers. Amy is house trained, does
not chew cord#or rugs, and shows her feelings about me by her rabbit talk…
Not liking apartments and not wanting a detached home, I have be delighted with
my choice of home. A very well managed mobile home park, paved roads, snow
removal, parks within the park and more. I notice my driving, especially at
night, was not up to par so I sold the car and now have two mobility scooters.
Everything I might need is within four blocks, grocery stores and drug stores
all deliver. I can get downtown in ten to fifteen minutes. As with all
communities, crime in the downtown is rising so my trips to sSuperstore are
limited to daylight hours, but they also deliver. The floor plan for my 1200+
sq ft is perfect. The spare bedrooms will soon. Be a comfortable TV room or
caregiver suite, if necessary.
I like Red Deer. Very much.
My friends from BC are planning a visit here next spring. Danielle and Jim
live in Fanny Bay, on the island and Art and Brian are from Maple Ridge.
I still carry on correspondence with my favourite writers. Follett, Archer,
Bohjalian and more. Bohjalian had just finished a new book when my first post
arrived. He loved the name Willow, so before sending it to his publishers, he
changed the name of the “moral fulcrum” of the book to Willow. Hid books are
wonderful. Ian Hamilton, a Canadian, has over ten books in the Ava Lee books.
Highly recommended and not a typical detective story. Ava is a forensic
accountant and bill collector. She is lesbian, trained in a martial art, and
Ian takes us to places most of us have never heard of…
