Congratulations Bev! Even small, a pair is stepping
up. Pintos will be very eye catching.

My suggestion is when owner delivers the ponies, get a
video camera to tape the whole procedure. Even TWO
cameras, from different angles, maybe above while
sitting on a ladder, would be SUPER. The videos will
keep your memory refreshed, show anything you forgot,
correct order of things done. You will see stuff,
how owner does fit, adjustments, push over pony, you
would miss while talking over pony back. Some is not
even vocal, a finger push or automatic. Perhaps a
friend/friends, can come run cameras. No people? Just
use a tripod with camera running. Almost anything
videoed, is better than nothing!!
Get owner to harness, then take everything off, and
try doing it yourself while they watch correct you.
If you have time, I would harness by myself, 3-4
times. Harness is really not much different, except
the reins and attaching to vehicle. Have the owner
explain WHY they use pair rein setting there, choice
of bits, slot used, curbstrap setting, how tight to
pull the strap from chest to yoke or pole head.
Listen to commands used to place pony to harness and
attach to vehicle, look at hands, body language too.
How the command is emphasized when spoken. Also video
the complete removal from vehicle, order of harness
removal from ponies. Lots of different handling ways,
easier to do what pony expects at the beginning. How
does driver leave harness area, warm-up ponies time,
any usual exercises, before asking for work. Put your
hands over theirs, to feel tension of reins while
going. Then also have them check your hold while
driving, loosen or tighten reins, shorten hold,
posture of driver, RELAX. Right!!
Talk while working together to get everything on tape,
speak loudly, clearly, about who prefers left side,
changing sides every trip, any roadside dislikes,
sirens, loud radio cars, whip touches acceptable here
but not on there? kind of stuff.
A video is really helpful in this kind of
application. Seeing it again, aids you in bringing up
details you forgot. When you are trying to remember
SO MUCH at once, excited, distracted, details get lost
easily. We see something new or differently almost
every time we watch the driving videos.

I did happen to see Jodi was going to California....
Any connection?? What a great new toy!!
