Well, I guess I should check my e-mail more often. Sorry all you guys had to clarify my terminology. I usually try to parenthesize when I know I'm using different terminology than light horse people are familiar with. Just as I had to learn (and am still learning) terminology used by light horse drivers I try to inform on heavy horse (or work horse) terminology. I don't think we should "all get together on the proper terminology" because there really is no "proper" terminology unless you are speaking within a venue regulated by a set of rules (ADS rule book). It has been mentioned that there was confusion when the term "teams" was used when hitching eight horses to a vehicle. I personnally was just as confused the first time I went to a CDE and heard someone identify a four-horse hitch as a team. Instead of switching heavy horse terminology to light horse terms we should to the reverse. It would be less confusing for me (he says light heartedly). It is good that there is difference in life. If we all did and said the same thing our days would be boring. I promise to learn the proper terms for light horse driving if ya'll promise to do the same for heavy horse driving. P.S. As to the term "tandem"; read my article in the next issue of Carriage Driving World on driving draft tandems and you'll see that even that term is not scared. I recommend that you read the book "Work Horse Handbook" by Miller. It can be purchased through Mischka Farm on line Thanks guys for helping me out, Ken _________________________________________________________ To Unsubscribe, change to Digest or Vacation mode go to: http://www.drivingpairs.com/dpmem.html `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
