Wow - what a lively discussion I started!!! . Glad to liven up the winter discussions!! I have driven Tandem previously with two of our Friesian mares. We had a blast!! The leader was a Type A very forward horse. The hardest thing for her was learning to not pull the entire equipage! She bent the tongues of the buckles on the wheeler with the keys b/c of her efforts. But - her attitude did make it easier to drive them - she just wanted to know which way to go, and at what speed, and the wheeler was very happy to follow her dam. (She's that way on the trail too - follow the leader is easier .)
