You make me so proud. Great jobs, how you described how you started your youngster, Merrie (and Diane too). Great description, Merrie, and every ste done right! You can do one more thing, not only making the traces of the youngster one hole longer for the first drive, but also make his reins one hole shorter, so you have him more in your hand. Yes, and each time he thinks of nipping, halfhalt right away, plus carefull outside whip. The leg rubbing on the pole: Yes, that's an issue too in the beginning, so be careful not to make tight turn to the side where the youngster is. Turns where he is on the outside are fine, but nothing tight where he is on the inside. So when you hitch the first time preferrably in an arena to keep things under control, you then must hitch them in a way that you can drive forward but have the youngster on the outside in the turns. Merrie, you are beyond that now alerady, just writing this for other beginners. And always for the first start, DRIVE FORWARD, if they don't start evenly, DRIVE FORWARD, don't hold back when they start in a seesaw, drive forward and it gets cured.
