I agree with John on asking fellow competitors about rules. Unless they have a rule book and can show you the Article, the answer given may or may not be correct. John was also correct in his example of approaching the TD or Judge with rule book in hand. Officials appreciate informed competitors. I recently attended an ADS Clinic for TD's and one point that was stressed was concerning answering questions about the rules. The point was to have the rule book available and look up the specific rule whether or not you think you know the answer. One other item though. Mike mentioned that the ADS Rules were "the ultimate source of how the game is played". While this is true for ADS recognized events there are different disciplines, such as breed shows and VSE's, with different rules. Ken can probably expand on this from the draft perspective. The bottom line is that it is the competitors responsibility to know the rules that govern their discipline of choice.
