It's not just the toe - but if the hoof angle is set too steep the entire
shoe wears off from the toe back in a slant. The plastic shoes seem to show
that imbalance faster than metal would.

If your shoes are worn evenly on both medial and lateral sides and only the
toe is worn that is good That means the hoof is in balance. The toes wear
more  quickly because when the hoof breaksover or leave the ground there is
the most  friction there
