How about the reverse Hardy?

I had a harness set up for roller or spools and my carriage didn't have that
type of trace?

Was there any other solution than to buy new traces ?

You need what we call "monkey puzzles" - called that way because it takes a
monkey to solve the puzzle on how to put them on :-).

They are half round metal clips, which fit into the slot end trace and
basically convert it then to a Roller Bold Trace end and with it you can
wrap it
around the "spool" or Roller Bolt. I see them in the Smucker's Catalogue
called
"Monkey Links", part Number 6862, they come in brass or chrome and 1 3/8" or
1
1/2" or 1 1/4" or 1 1/8" depending on the width of your traces. But they
only
work for you if your traces are long anough to have enough length to wrap
once around the "spool" In my catalogue (from 2001) they are listed for $
4.95
for brass and $ 5.95 each for chrome.
Good luck
Hardy (back from a month of travelling)
