Everyone on the list:
This list is like an alligator.
You can feed an alligator, but you must watch it all the time...if you
intend to be there the next time you want to feed it.
When you join this list you are cautioned that you must stay on topic.
Every message has to be pairs oriented.
There are cruel people out there who create virus (virii?) that screw up
computers. When they hear for computers they have bombed they get a
real thrill out of it. When they see messages popping up warning about
their virus, it is a tremendous ego thrill for them. They have scared a
whole bunch of people.
Now they are having a great time spreading urban hoaxes. The people who
get hurt in this are the well-meaning people who then, out of nothing
but the goodness of their hearts, spread the word.
As the list gets off topic people get mad. They quit the list. Many
times the people who get mad are the ones most serious about the cause
the list represents, and then their input is lost.
Before you hit return to post a message to this list, reread it quickly
and say to yourself, "Is this about pairs and multiples driving?."
Sending messages to the list is a privilege. Those who belong to the
list have given us permission to enter their lives to talk about
something they are also interested in.
Posting anything unrelated is like dropping in for a cup of coffee and
staying on for supper. The next time you drop by they might not answer
the door!
