Thank you all!
I ordered the Max Pape book today from amazon.com - thank you Noel Jones for
getting a good price for me.

I am progressing with my harness puzzle (I look at it as a big puzzle). I
have one side of the pair on a hitch rail in the barn and one on chairs in the
kitchen. The one in the kitchen is all put together now and I'm working one
the one in the barn. Next will take the one in the barn apart again and try to
reassemble without looking at the one in the kitchen or directions. Big Grin
!!! It will probably take several tries. I think I even know what to take
on/off for pairs and put on/off for single...and where the pieces go. Will
practice for a while off the ponies till I don't have to think SOoo hard.

One of the things that had me fooled -especially with all just pieces - was
the breeching and how it went. Up close I had only ever seen the breeching
that went under the belly. THIS breeching goes to the breast collar and has a
break strap that goes from the neck strap to the pole dee. There is nothing
under the belly. Some of of the straps buckle in over other straps in the same
buckle ....new concept to me.

Actually the supplier had sent me some fairly straight forward instructions
that I kept misreading. I e-mailed them and got some answers to get me going.
Then the instructions started making sense...slowly.

I went through every pair photo from this list and all of the pairs on the
cd-l list -
printed the clearest ones, looked at all the pictures in mags and books and
decided there were many ways and types of breeching
- to no breeching - I HAD remembered that from earlier posts.

Multi Question 1:
Now I'm wondering if the type breeching I have will hinder the horses in any
way. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the under the belly breeching
compared to the type I have. (one advantage I can see is when converting to
single - this is almost identical and easy to do) Do the different types have
specific names? Are there others with names? eg: I need to go back and reread
about "Yankee breeching"

Question 2: (probably really dumb)
The pole rings(dees) are slightly offset from the center- a right and a left.
I just don't know for sure which is which. My guess is the ring should be
to the inside toward the pole on each horse.

Thank you all again!

Sincerely,

Lyn in Indy
Slow, hopefully sure and safe
Single seemed a LOT easier :) :)
