Hi and welcome, newcomer, (You didn't mention your name)
Frankly, I've used collars and breast collars and prefer the latter.
Although you'll surely get some response on this question. You mention
"breast straps".....how wide is the "strap". It should be a bit wide for
the horse's sake, at least. When I was using the collars, I found fit was
indeed a problem if either mare would gain wait. So I switched. It's
strictly a personal preference. Anyone else?
