Hardy is absolutely right. Put miles on the horses with intermittent stops.....lots of them. And don't just stop for a couple of seconds and start again. Find a nice place out of the way and practice "whoa". Sit and chat and keep your horses standing until they finally realize they aren't going to move out again. Let them relax and maybe even start to take a nap. Then start up again, but only at the walk. Don't worry about collection, bending, etc. That comes much later. First they have to learn to walk and whoa. If you decide to let them trot, don't allow them to get too excited....bring them back to a walk. It takes time and patience, but it will all fall into place. Good luck, and have fun.
