Just out of interest what is the largest database any of you have
constructed with Datapower?
Currently the database is holding just over 52,000 individual records and
measures 7MB in size.
Over the years I have helped with a lot of user's databases. Mostly they
have been cut down versions and so relatively small. The largest was one
dealing with a school and was about 7MB.
CJE also had a 7MB database for their catalogue but that has probably been
superseded because it was too slow.
Of course some databases may be relatively small but access a lot of
external data. One such was "A multi-access key to the lichens of Great
Britain and Ireland". It was - and may still be - a commercial product. I
was asked to resolve a few problems with it - which I did. The actual
database was not as big as yours - about 3MB - but it accessed and
displayed location maps and photos of the lichens. These were stored in
external directories. The maps occupied 16MB and the photos 42MB.
