#200 August 1st, 2015 from http://www.don-guitar.com

So, this makes 200 issues and I may not be going strong, but
I'm still going and that's gotta count for something, right?

We've become the band who never turn down a gig (on a
date when we're not already booked) but all the regular
members of our band are also in other bands so there have
been numerous occasions when one or more of our regular guys
wasn't available on a date we agreed to play. We've spent
the last decade building a database of talented musicians
we can call on when that happens. The unexpected end result
is that we get more opportunities to play. Perhaps
because the club wants to see who we're going to come up
with next, or, it may just be because we have a reputation
for being dependable. We're not sure of the reasons, but are
nevertheless delighted with the end result and this year
we've connected with several musicians from the Austin
area who're delighted to come out here in the sticks and
jam with us. We're extremely proud of that.

There aren't a lot of links in my ezine folder but I'll
manage to get this one out with help from Lisa and reader,
Lesley Wilson.

Here we go...

I've started a 365 Project in Blogger, requiring one image,
taken by me (or not) and a short entry. The advantage to
having a blog is that you post once and then you can share
the link anywhere. I started in January and have gotten
behind, but hope to catch up by the end of the year.

A few months back Lesley Wilson sent me a copy of her large
collection of favorite websites. I've listed a few of them
so far but haven't really made a dent in it and, this month
I've got lots of time (and not so many links) so it's time
to get back into her list. :)

As long as you aren't worried about security issues, storing
files online is a great way to make them a lot less likely
to be lost in a computer crash. As google fans, Lisa and I
both use google drive but we know a lot of folks who use
dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/

We've spent the last four days helping out at the Lantex
movie theater in Llano as they're trying to take out old
seats and put in new ones before their first showing of
Jurassic World tonight (they asked for volunteers on
facebook). We put in as many seats in as we could before
the movie started (7:30 PM). http://www.lantextheater.com/
I said 'new' seats, they aren't actually new, the fellow
who runs the theater found 800 of them on Craigslist in
used but good condition. The theater was built in 1927
and this will be the third times it's had the seats changed.
It's been hard work but we don't mind supporting the
theater because it's run as a non-profit and most of the
time an admission ticket is only five dollars ($5 US).
That makes it an affordable evening out for us. Neither of
us had set foot in a theater for a few decades before we
discovered the Lantex. So far, we've been to two movies
and are looking forward to many more in the future. We
might even be getting a few free passes as a result of
our efforts as volunteers. :) 'Let's all go the lobby'

See you next time.
