#266 April 1, 2021 from Don Crowder www.don-guitar.com

First words:

I've finally gotten both of my Covid vaccinations
(Pfizer) and I'm awful pleased that I managed not to
catch the disease before I got vaccinated.  Of course
New Mexico is still locked down so it's going to be a
while before I can get out and play some music but at
least now I might be able to get together with some
musicians who, like me, have had completed vaccination/s
and do a little jamming. I certainly hope so anyway.

Let's get started. :)

I don't watch the news on TV, don't have subscriptions
to magazines or newspapers, never visit news websites and
don't listen to news on the radio other than NPR's Morning
Edition while driving but I'm almost never in the car in
the mornings (because I'm retired and don't have a job).
I'm embarrassed to say I get news from Facebook. I decided
it was time I started paying at least some attention to the
news and my first thought was The Guardian. I was dismayed
to learn that an email subscription to The Guardian is $20
a month and they don't have a senior citizen discount (that
I could find anyway). Then I remembered another excellent
source of minimally biased news; the BBC.  You do have
to register with the BBC - https://account.bbc.com/register
but once you've registered the daily news email is without
cost: https://tinyurl.com/ypw3p9zv [bbc dot co dot uk]
I can't say how good the coverage is, because I've only
just subscribed but I'm hoping it's good (and at the very
least my only source of news will no longer be Facebook).

Last words:

I listed the RTL-SDR in this issue (as 'the coolest
radio you never heard of). I bought one because I've
always been interested in short-wave radio. I had an
old tube set when I was a kid that I had a lot of fun
with) but it's not a 'plug and play' devices (doesn't
that just figure?).  I'm going to have to take on a
learning curve before I get to have any fun with it.

I hate when that happens. :)

Wishing you the very best of love, luck, health and
happiness.  See you next time.
