First word, from Don:

Bill Lanoue is my brother, though we're aren't related by
blood, and he's been after me to do something to show my
patriotism. I don't think Bill and I will ever fully agree
on this but it's not that I don't feel any sense of
patriotism. I defy any American to watch this video with
dry eyes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTb6qdPu8JE
I certainly sat and cried as I watched it. I'm proud of my
heritage as an American and I'm proud of and grateful to
American combat veterans, like Bill, who've put their butts
on the line for all Americans. Nuff said.

---

Lisa's a big believer in homeopathic medicine. I'm a born
skeptic but some of them seem to work quite nicely so I'm
willing to reserve judgement on all of them until I've
actually tried them. I nicked the tip of my left index
finger on the table saw the other day and while it looks
like it's going to heal up just fine, it's really sore and
hurts a lot. I've been using triple antibiotic with pain
killer, tylenol (or ibuprofen) and a homeopathic remedy
called hypericum perforatum. My finger seems to be
healing quickly and hurting less all the time. That being
the desired end result, I'm not prepared to question the
means by which it's happening.

---

I have a terrible memory for birthdays, anniversaries
and/or any other sort of recurring annual event. For
the last couple of years I've used MemoToMe...
http://www.memotome.com/ [really works!]
...to help me remember to mention Talk Like a Pirate
Day... http://www.talklikeapirate.com/ (September 19)
This year it occurred to me that MemoToMe works really
well and has been very reliable so next year I've
programmed it to remind me of Lisa's birthday and our
anniversary. Lisa suggested I add my kids and
grandkids to the reminder list but they're gonna think
something is wrong with me if I start remembering
their birthdays so I'm gonna have to think about it.
My kids usually just call me on their birthdays to
spare me the guilt and embarrassment.

---

Hope everythings well and wonderful in your world
as it mostly is in ours. See you next time.

A Little Humor.

A man was driving down the road when a pig fell off a truck
ahead of him. The man stopped and put the pig in his car. A
few minutes later he flagged down a police car. When the
officer approached the man said, 'This pig fell off a truck.
What should I do with him?'

The officer replied, 'Why don't you take him to the zoo.'

'Thanks, that's a great idea!' replied the man and drove
off with the pig.

The next day the officer once again saw the man driving with
the pig in his car. The officer stopped the car and said, 'I
thought you were going to take that pig to the zoo!'

'I did,' replied the man. 'In fact, we had such a good time at
the zoo yesterday that we decided to go to the beach today.'

---

Two buddies Frank and Steve were two of the biggest baseball
fans in America. For their entire adult lives, Frank and Steve
discussed baseball history in the winter and they pored over
every box score during the season. They went to 60 games a
year. They even agreed that whoever died first would try to
come back and tell the other if there was baseball in heaven.

One summer night, Frank passed away in his sleep after
watching the Yankee victory earlier in the evening. He died
happy. A few nights later, his buddy Steve awoke to the sound
of Frank's voice from beyond. 'Frank is that you?' Steve
asked. 'Of course it's me,' Frank replied. 'This is
unbelievable!' Steve exclaimed. 'So tell me, is there baseball in heaven?'

'Well I have some good news and some bad news
for you. Which do you want to hear first?'

'Tell me the good news first.'

'Well, the good news is that, yes,
there is baseball in heaven, Steve.'

'Oh, that is wonderful! So what
could possibly be the bad news?'

'You're pitching tomorrow night.'

Last word, from Lisa:

Once again, it's been a busy time and we've been
loving (well, liking) it.

Don's had a little run-in with an unforgiving
tool and I've been dosing him with a homeopathic
remedy specifically recommended for deep cuts to
nerve-rich body parts. It's working well and
today's dressing-change was remarkably reassuring.
We were happy to find that our HEB supermarket
has several homeopathic remedies and stocked
up while we were there. A little dinner at
the deli and we were good to go.

For an online resource, I highly recommend
http://www.1-800homeopathy.com/ for education,
help and products.

Life is good, love is wonderful.

The most important people on the Internet, for you and
I as computer users, are software developers. The world's
coolest computer, without software, is like a car without
fuel. It might look great, but what can it do?
It doesn't matter who produces the software you love
and use regularly, the developers of that software
need and deserve your support.

A bit of advice from Internet veteran Bayard J. Fox:

New computer users are often in awe of the things you can
get without cost on the Internet. There can be hidden
costs for the unwary. Use a 'throw away' email address to
register, and be constantly on guard against giving away
personal information. Use a firewall, and provide only
the barest minimum of information on questionnaires.

The Internet: A Weapon of Mass Construction.
