First word, from Don:

There are lots of reader contributions in this issue.
That pleases me very much. I started writing a twice
monthly ezine in February of 2002, in the employ of Phil
McKinney of Maxpatch.com (which is now long gone). Phil
laid me off in June of 2004. I set up an account with
freelists.org and kept right on publishing, beginning on
the first of July 2004, without a sponsor. Many of you
followed me from Maxpatch to Freelists. I'm real proud of
that. I believe this odd little publication took on added
dimension when Lisa started helping me with it. I'm proud
of that too. We still love it and we're still at it.
Thanks for sticking around. See you next time.

A Little Humor.

A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband.

Suddenly, her husband burst into the kitchen.

'Careful,' he said, 'Careful! Put in some more butter!
Oh my God! You're cooking too many at once.
Too Many! Turn Them! Turn Them Now!
We need more butter. Oh my God!
Where are we going to get more butter?
They're going to Stick! Careful. Careful!
I said be careful!
You never listen to me when you're cooking! Never!
Turn them! Hurry up! Are you crazy?
Have you lost your mind?
Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget
to salt them. Use the salt. Use the salt! The salt!'

The wife stared at him. 'What in the world is wrong
with you? You think I don't know how to fry a
couple of eggs?'

The husband calmly replied, 'I just wanted to
show you what it feels like when I'm driving.'

Last word, from Lisa:

It seems we used to have a tougher time putting
together the ezine and getting it out. These days
I 'work up' about 4 links a day, checking out the
site, making sure that it's useful and perhaps
has free stuff or info, is family-friendly and
user-friendly. Then when it's time to post, I
write a closing statement and I'm done. It's
a technique that works with my schedule. Don has
a lot more to do, but over time he's developed
some techniques that make the process a little
smoother.

We always hope you continue to be entertained,
amused and sometimes a little enlightened by
the time you've read the ezine. If not, drop
us a line to tell us how you feel.

'Til next time,

Lisa

The most important people on the Internet, for you and
I as computer users, are software developers. The world's
coolest computer, without software, is like a car without
fuel. It might look great, but what can it do?
It doesn't matter who produces the software you love
and use regularly, the developers of that software
need and deserve your support.

A bit of advice from Internet veteran Bayard J. Fox:

New computer users are often in awe of the things you can
get without cost on the Internet. There can be hidden
costs for the unwary. Use a 'throw away' email address to
register, and be constantly on guard against giving away
personal information. Use a firewall, and provide only
the barest minimum of information on questionnaires.

The Internet: A Weapon of Mass Construction.
