Nevertheless we need to think about replacing the forum software
rather soon. It is no longer maintained and does not work with PHP 7.
Personally I would like to switch to discourse, but we need to figure

FYI if PHP is prefered you can have a look at https://flarum.org/
- though it's new it looks nice. Just got to know that several days ago.
