[dokuwiki] Very strange editing problem/error

I'm seeing a very strange error when editing a Dokuwiki page.
If I put ~~NOCACHE~~ as the first line then it disappears, i.e. it
doesn't show up when I next edit the file. However the ~~NOCACHE~~ is
there if I take a look at the raw .txt file.
It also *seems* as if the ~~NOCACHE~~ doesn't have any effect when it's
in it's 'disappeared' position.
Putting the ~~NOCACHE~~ further down the page seems to prevent the problem.
Has anyone else seen anything like this?
