Hi Andreas,

how much work would it be to revive the spellcheck plugin as a dokuwiki feature that highlights misspelled word on the actual web page, rather than in the editbox, with suggested corrections (either via css tooltip, or via javascript)? While most modern browsers have spellchecking in their edit boxes, none of them have spell checked for web pages (and why would they, of course. for normal sites, you cannot edit the page). This feature is, however, highly useful if you have editorial capabilities. Firefox has a plugin that sort of allows this ("Spell Checker" addon), but it's pretty poor, and only highlights wrong words without any suggestion for correction, nor any way to editing of the dictionary file, etc.

I don't know if other people want to be able to have dokuwiki show them erroneous spelling on their pages as the world sees them, but for people who use it for collaborative document creation, this feature would be quite useful: a centralised dictionary file specific to the dokuwiki means you're not polluting general purpose dictionaries with all sorts of jargon, and everyone working on the project can immediately spot mistakes on pages where the original author(s) didn't have time (yet) to thoroughly correct everything. Being able to spot mistakes so that you can go into edit mode would be a great editorial benefit, making the job much easier than having to open each page just to see if there are any misspellings flagged in the edit box.
