[dokuwiki] Is there a way of subscribing to namespaces that you don't have edit permissions for?

Hi,

I am using dokuwiki with indexmenu and subscriptions enabled.

The way I have indexmenu set up is that I have a 'headpage' for each namespace. I don't want users to be able to edit the 'headpage', but read only. But I do want users to be able to edit all pages under each namespace/sub-namespace.

At the same time I am trying to implement subscriptions, and would like users to be able to subscribe to namespaces. But if they click on the namespaces, the 'Manage Subscriptions' option does not show because the user does not have edit permissions. I am aware that if there is a page under the namespace that users have edit permissions for, they will see 'Manage Subscriptions' on this page, and can then opt to subscribe to the namespace as a whole, but as I am choosing not to show headpages in the tree, and because I have many namespaces which only have sub-namespaces in, and no pages, this option would not always work, and is not as intuitive anyway as simply clicking on a namespace and being able to subscribe to that.

I would really rather not give users permission to edit the headpages so I am wondering if there is any other workaround?

Thanks,

Nick
