[dokuwiki] How to create namespaces easily?

Is there any way to create namespaces more naturally/easily than
specifying links to places like:-
[[.:newnamespace:start]]
In addition, the other way around, it would be good if when one
specifies a link like:-
[[newnamespace]]
it would link to a start.txt file in the newnamespace directory.
Maybe some sort of syntax to indicate that one wants a new namespace
rather than just another page at the current level would be appropriate.
E.g. if one creates a link like:-
[[:newnamespace]]
then clicking on it will create newnamespace/start.txt.
