Most support forums are very active and offer the user community a
valuable resource for help in getting started. Once users gets skilled,
you find that many stick around to help out.
Initially the forum needs the experienced to chip in, but as time
passes, there'll be enough talent to let the forum help itself for the
most part. Then it becomes a case of moderation and occasionally
dropping by and answering those posts that stump the regulars.
That's been my experience with Open Source forums.
