Text is easy to parse. But hard to analyze. And even if it were easy to
analyze, you could still present puzzles that will beat every machine.

What's the color of a banana?
How many words are in this sentence?
Please type the first character of each word in this sentence!

There's no need to get into an arms race about reading garbled
characters and letters off some image. Yes, computers are able to do
that. But computers lack world knowledge; and they always will.

You also have to consider the fact that link spamming works because its
cheap. Raise the cost of spamming and it will go away. There aren't
endless resources on the spammers' side for the arms race.
