Cool. Thanks for the info Dugan. I think it's still early days for interactive music/audio and there's some truly amazing stuff to come. MS might be a little hesitant to put too much resources into it right now but DM is a great start and I'm sure as high powered consoles and/or PCs hooked up to cranking 5.1 or greater sound systems become the norm in the living rooms of the masses, we'll see our hard work pay off. :) || -----Original Message----- || From: directmusic-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx || [mailto:directmusic-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Dugan Porter || Sent: Sunday, 4 May 2003 5:07 PM || To: directmusic@xxxxxxxxxxxxx || Subject: [directmusic] Re: Wierdness || || || || Hi Fraser. Fear not, there are no plans to yank support for DirectMusic || in Windows - applications using it will continue to work, and the || current level of support will continue (documentation, samples, the || authoring tool, and bug fixes where possible for any major || customer-blocking issues). However, it's also true that currently we || don't have any plans to add new features or enhancements to DirectMusic. || As you said, it does cater to a somewhat niche area, and as such it is a || bit of an anomaly in the Windows API family. There really isn't || sufficient adoption of DirectMusic in mass market applications like || games for us to justify more investment in it at this point.
