I tend to just avoid motifs because: (1) You have to go through the trouble of embedding the band in the motif to make sure its instruments get picked up properly when it's played. (2) You can't use any track types in the motif other than pattern tracks (so no markers, streamed waves in wave tracks, etc.) (3) If you want a script to play the motif, you have to create a segment with a segment trigger track that fires off the motif. While it's convenient to have all of the motifs stored in one place, regular secondary segments seem to get you a lot more functionality and less headache. And if you really want them all available in one place, you can always throw them into a container. -Scott -----Original Message----- From: Bjorn Lynne [mailto:bjorn.lynne@xxxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 2:49 AM To: directmusic@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [directmusic] Re: Play motif with script Hi Kenny > How do you play a motif using scripting? I had the same question here about a month ago. It turns out, you can't. You've got to create your motifs as real segments instead of creating them as motifs. Then play the segments as secondary segments, from your script. At least unless there's been a change or a new discovery in the past few weeks....
