Andrew, We can definitely do a presentation do doing a dual-boot mode linux. Linux desktop distros have made good headway in this area in the last two years.. So we'll definitely throw that on the list and put something together for you =] As for the corporate environment, do you mean more desktop than server? Currently Cisco is making a big push to get all of their employees that don't need a MS desktop onto linux. I think the target is 60%. Though thats pretty ambitious, its encouraging nonetheless. Where I work (ciscolearning.org) almost all of the developers run redhat ws for their workstation. And 100% of our production servers are running Linux with other open source apps such as Apache, Jboss, and Squid. Unless people would be able to make a trip in the middle of a weekday.. it may be hard to arrange a tour.. Maybe we can take a tour of the data center? I'll see what I can find out. =] As for DeLUG, it is most certainly *not* exclusively Linux. We are a group dedicated to educating the community on Free and Open source software in general. That said.. I suppose the latest release of Solaris would fall under that as soon as all the details are sorted out by Sun.. though I personally am *EXTREMELY* wary of the CDDL and Sun in general. But as with any *nix users group.. you'll most likely always find other people with common interests in things like Solaris. I think it's definitely worth taking a look. So thats on the list too! (Solaris / CDDL). MySQL! I am a big fan of open RDBMS's and think that's a great idea. Other great ones are PostgreSQL, Derby (cloudscape), Open SAP etc etc. Again this is something I could present on.. or if someone else wanted to give it a shot I'm all for it! Thank you! This is very helpful. This is exactly the point of the group. Andrew R.
