Have you tried using "nickserv" rather than "nicserve"?
Not to mention, curious, which IRC network is this? Just curious
because some IRC networks allow you to register channels, but not your
nicks. Others, including DALnet and the one I run, do. And even so, it
depends on which Services package they use, whether it's something based
on Andy Church's IRCServices (which accounts for 90+% of the Services
implementations out there) or something completely original. In most
cases, it's the same.
