Hello, Ward 7 Community Leaders,
On behalf of the Fletcher-Johnson Task Force and ANC7E, we would like to
invite you to a *Community Benefits Agreement training session closed to
Ward 7 Leaders* (i.e., Commissioners, Civic, and Other Group Ward 7
Organizations). If interested, we ask that you fill out the pre-workshop

by Thursday, June 10*. *Although this will be Fletcher-Johnson-centered, we
will talk about other Ward 7 projects.
*On June 12, 2021* (12:00 pm -- 2:00 pm), students from the Harrison Policy
Clinic at Georgetown University Law Center will provide an overview of the
use of community benefits agreements (CBAs) to promote equitable community
development in Washington, DC. The discussion will include a walk-through
of CBA development and implementation, with a focus on best practices for
enhancing the negotiating power of community coalitions to develop durable
CBAs -- ones that not only reflect community interests and priorities but
can also be legally enforced to encourage compliance by developers.
The students will share updates on their research, which has been developed
through extensive interviews with community stakeholders in DC. The
workshop will also preview a forthcoming report on CBA best practices and
other community resources developed by students in the Harrison Institute.
