Hope you are well. Can’t wait to start growing with you all again! Wanted
to invite you all to a few events happening soon.
*This Friday **- Volunteer Appreciation Cider Press Event 1-3pm at Lederer
Gardens*
We really can’t express enough gratitude for all the amazing help we’ve
gotten from so many of you wonderful people with our communal farms. Between
Edgewood Rooftop Farm and Lederer Gardens we literally gave away over 5000
pounds of produce to the local communities last year. We couldn’t have
done anywhere close to those numbers without an army of amazing people
volunteering often in some extreme temperatures to not only make it it
happen but make it fun and feel like a community. You all are beyond
amazing!
One way to start expressing our gratitude is we’re trying to organize more
volunteer appreciation events. The first one will be this Friday at
Lederer Gardens at 1-3pm. We brought over our cider press and picked up 7
crates of organic apples from Quaker Valley Orchard to press a bunch of
cider to drink and take home for anyone who can join. We’re also going to
have a fire water (a great drink to boost your immunity) demonstration led
by Jeni and we’re going to try to bring a metal firepit to keep us
warm/warm our cider in case its cold that day.
If you can make it this Friday please let us know and please bring some
containers to take home cider too. If you can’t make it let us know too
and since this was kind of last second (as most things we do😉) we may be
able to schedule another cider pressing too if there's interest.
*This Wednesday – Lederer Gardens Mushroom Propagation workshops - 10-2pm*
In case anyone didn’t see the first email last week this Wednesday at
Lederer Gardens from 10-2pm, we're partnering with UDC to host a mushroom
cultivation workshop at Lederer Gardens. We'll be propagating mushrooms on
logs and straw bags to start growing mushrooms for our veggie giveaways.

*This Saturday – First Lederer Gardens Workday 11-2pm*
We’re hoping to plant our cool weather crops in mid-march but in order to
do that we need to spend the next two weeks getting our beds ready
(broadforking, topdressing with compost, woodchipping isles, etc). Our
first volunteer day will happen this Saturday at 11-2pm if you want to join
us. Please RSVP in case anything changes. We’ll also have lots of work
days over the next two weeks too if you can’t make this Saturday but want
to join us later. Just let us know either way.
*Next Tuesday,* *March 8**th** – NEED LOTS OF HELP!!!* *Edgewood Rooftop
Farm Work day – 10-4pm*
We’re getting a large load of compost dropped off next Tuesday, 8th at 10am
at Edgewood. Unfortunately they have to drop it off in the street and we
need to move everything to the farm and food forest the same day. We’re
going to topdress all the beds in the Rooftop farm and redo the beds in the
food forest (pull out all small plants, mix and till beds with compost,
replant plants) We could definitely use lots of help with this day. If you
can make it anytime between 10-4pm please let us know.
