DPR Communal Farm Weekly Update
Hello all,
Hope everyone is well. Below is the weekly communal farm update on
available produce to give away, volunteer opportunities, and requests for
help this week.

* Highlights*
*First Powell Communal Farm Weekly Veggie Giveaway This Thursday
11-12pm!!!!*
We're finally ready to start our weekly produce giveaway at Powell Communal
Farm located at Powell Park (3149 16th St NW) in between the tennis courts
and church. We could use some extra volunteers to help harvest and setup
the giveaway. And if anyone is free and speaks Spanish we could really use
you too. Many of the participants picking up veggies will only be speakng
Spanish.

10-11am - Harvest and setup giveaway
11-12pm - Giveaway
12-2pm - Harvest for church food program next door and garden maintenance

*--- Edgewood Communal Honey Harvest Bottled Over 100 lbs of Honey!!!!*
Thanks to our amazing beekeepers and volunteers we bottled over 100 lbs of
local organic honey from our communal honey hives in over 300 small bottles
to give away at our weekly veggie giveaways. Come to any giveaway
(Edgewood, Lederer, Powell) next week to pickup some free honey. And if
you missed our harvesting day we have more honey to harvest next month from
our communal honey hives. Stay tuned for the next harvest date.

*Need More Help at Lederer Gardens*
We've doubled our growing area this year at Lederer Gardens which means we
have lots to harvest but also lots to maintain. We could use help with
maintenance and harvesting if anyone can join.

Mondays - 10-2pm
Wednesday - 9-2pm (harvesting for giveaway 9-11am)
Fridays - 10-4pm
Saturdays - 7-10am
*Need Produce Bags and Large Plastic Totes and 5 gallon buckets*
We're running low on plastic bags to use as free produce bags during our
weekly veggie giveaways. We could also use large plastic totes and 5
gallon buckets to help wash our veggies in. Feel free to drop these off at
any veggie giveaway or farm open hours.

flyer with local listservs, civic groups, and if possible print them out
and post them in public areas near the farms.
