Ward 7 ANC Redistricting Task Force Meeting

Dear Neighbors,
Now that the ward boundaries are set, it is time to turn our attention to
adjusting the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) and Single Member District
(SMD) boundaries as a part of the District's on-going redistricting process.
In doing so, we have finalized our Ward 7 ANC Redistricting Task Force and will
have our first meeting on this Thursday, 1/20 at 5 pm via Zoom. This meeting is
open to the public, however you must register in advance. Join us to meet the
task force members and learn about the ANC redistricting process. Here is the
registration information:

To keep you informed and to help everyone better understand the process, below
is language from the DC Code about the criteria for establishing ward task
forces for ANC redistricting:
Establishment of ward task forces on Advisory Neighborhood Commissions
redistricting process:
(a) Each member of the Council of the District of Columbia ("Council") elected
from a ward shall appoint a broadly-based ward task force on Advisory
Neighborhood Commissions ("ward task force") for his or her ward.
(b) In appointing the members of a ward task force, each Councilmember shall
give full consideration to assuring fair representation for all racial and
ethnic minorities, women, and geographical areas in his or her ward.
(c) Each member of a ward task force shall be a registered voter and resident
of the ward for which his or her ward task force is appointed.
(d) Each member of the Council elected at-large and the Chairman of the Council
may appoint a person to each ward task force.
(e) Ward task force members shall serve until the ward task force files its
final report with the Council unless the Council, by resolution, extends the
term of the ward task force.
(f) Each ward task force member shall serve without compensation.
We will continue to provide updates as move forward with the final portion of
the redistricting process.
Redistricting in the District: What You Need to Know
Council of the District of Columbia continues its once-in-a-decade
redistricting process. Normally, decennial redistricting begins in April, but a
five-month delay in the release of 2020 Census data delayed the process.

redistricting process:

redistricting) begin meeting

D.L. comes with more than a decade of service to the residents of Ward 7.
Raised in the Penn Branch neighborhood, D.L. always wanted to be involved with
helping his community. He attended North Carolina A&T State University to
study Political Science in order to learn the insides of politics. After
graduating, D.L. did just that by running for Ward 7 City Council in 2007. Mr.
Humphrey has worn many hats in his community. He has served as Chairman and
Vice Chairman of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 7B, 2nd Vice Chair of the
Ward 7 Democrats and also as 1st Vice Chair of the Sixth District Citizens
Advisory Council. He continues to diligently work for the residents of his home
ward as the Director of Constituent Services for Ward 7 Councilmember Vincent
C. Gray.

Tamika serves as Deputy Director of Constituent Services for Ward 7
Councilmember Vincent C. Gray. In this capacity, she works with Ward 7
residents to resolve constituent concerns and issues, attends community
meetings and keeps Councilmember Gray abreast of resident and stakeholder
concerns. Tamika believes that every resident deserves an opportunity to
improve key areas that may impact their quality of life. Tamika enjoys working
with constituents to resolve their problems, and is a strong advocate for our
seasoned seniors and housing residents. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Human Resources Management. A native Washingtonian and Ward 7 resident, Tamika
lives in the Deanwood neighborhood with her husband and teenage son.
