Hello: After much experimentation, I believe that it is definitely my m-audio delta audiophyle sound card that is causing the muffly sound I'm hearing with my Shure SM57 microphones. I have tried them with various preamps as well as a Mackie board to the same results. I have also tried DI-ing my basss and it also sounded very muffly. This would let me know that it is definitely not the mics and also not the preamps; therefore, I'd assume it must be my sound card. Does anyone know why a sound card would record muffly like that? Perhaps I should uninstall and reinstall its drivers? Perhaps the card is dammaged and I should get a new one? The only way i have to get around the muffly sound is to turn the treble up in the graphic EQ (8-16 hurts). I don't like using the EQ as many people say it takes away from the sound, but it's my only option right now. If you have any suggestions, please e-mail me directly: sitedblind@xxxxxxxxxxx since I begin recording a band tomorrow and would like things to go as smoothly as possible. Thanks a lot!
