Wow thanks man...
I was asking cuz a while ago I was talking to somebody from south america
who wants to get into music recording, but they don't use the later jaws
versions,, they barely have funds to afford it in the first place, and
upgrades are expensive; they don't have programs that purchase accessive
tech either. So I want to know what ct supports for when it comes time to
make recommendations and build a system for them...

Hi,

The next information is the DancingDots oficial recommendations, it's on
DancingDots website.
a..
CakeTalking 8.5 officially runs under Windows XP Home, XP Professional,
Windows Vista and Windows 7.
a.. CakeTalking for SONAR 8.5 is compatible with JAWS 7.10, 8.x, 9, 10 11,
12 or 13. For Windows 7, you must use JAWS 11, 12 or 13. CakeTalking 8.5 was
beta tested with JAWS 7.1 through 11. However, it has been found to work
reasonably well with JAWS 12 and 13. That is, Dancing Dots does not
officially support using CakeTalking 8.5 with JAWS 12 and 13 but many
customers have installed CakeTalking and run it with those versions of JAWS
and have not experienced significant technical difficulties doing so. If you
encounter a significant technical problem using CakeTalking 8.5 with JAWS 12
or 13, run SONAR 8.5 with JAWS 11. Call Dancing Dots if the problem persists
even when you use JAWS 11. Remember that you must reinstall CakeTalking
after installing any version of JAWS on your system.Quote a..

Rui. I have better results with Jaws 10 on a windows Xp than Jaws 11 though.

I
tested both deeply!
a.. For example, I experienced that using Jaws 11 the Shift Z hotkeys dont
work.
a.. However, for what i read on this list, Jaws 11 is the prefer one.
On Windows 7 at least Jaws 11 is the recommended one.
a..
best regards,
Rui Vilarinho

Does anybody know what the jaws recommendations are for ct? I mean, what
versions of jaws does ct work with (officially)?

Hi,

Did you press control F12 to enable Jaws as the control surface?!

Since the buffer size as got nothing to do with editing issues, Jaws 13
could be the reason for having Cake talking editing problems.

I use Jaws 10 with very good results, Jaws 11 is very recommendedin this
list, stil i have better results with Jaws 10 though!

best regards,
Rui Vilarinho

Subject: [ddots-l] technical question

Hello all,
I am having a little technical problem and want to see if someone can
help me out.
I recently got a new computer and finally got everything up and
running. Last night I recorded some audio tracks, and some of the
editing functions I normally use are not working for me. I will
select a portion of a track, press delete(JAWS does not say "delete"
like it usually would), it will not delete what I selected, but will
delete much more than what I selected. Also, it allows me to copy a
selected track, but will not paste for me.
One adjustment I did make recently to Sonar is I raised the buffer
size for both play back and record from 256 to 512 because when it was
at 256 it was dropping out every two or three seconds whether I was
recording or playing something back. Not sure if this buffer change
has any effect on these editing tasks that I am having problems with.
Also, with my new computer I got JAWS 13, so not sure if that is
complicating things too?
Anyone got any suggestions?

Best,

Steve.
