Hay Steve. Thanks for the advice. However, think I already checked out the
DB 15's and wasn't that impressed. The RCF 15 sounded nice however, it
didn't quite get the very bottom end. The RCF was quite a bit more cash
but, having heard one, I can see why. Also, asked Tom about the PROL stuff
but, he steered me away from that, and said that the RCF stuff is better. I
believe him as when it comes to any kind of speaker/monitor, Tom really
knows his stuff. For example, was bout to purchase the RCF 15 but, tom
stopped me and said, "before you do, have a listen to this." He plugged in
a MACKIE 18 and boy, what a difference. It really handled the very bottom,
a lot better. The bass dropped off on the bottom D of the backing track
that I was playing on the 15 where as on the 18, it sustained beautifully.
He didn't have an RCF 18 around in the shop at the time so, couldn't check
that out. Love that about the guys down at Absolute Music. They really
want to make sure that you have checked out all of the options before
purchase. Also, it was just after 5.30 in the evening so technically, the
shop should have been closed. That's traffic for ya. so, he couldn't get
hold of the 18. He's getting one sent over from the warehouse so, will be
able to check that out. Mind you, any 15 is like that. If you want that
groul or, chest thump then, you really do need to purchase an 18 inch sub.
Also, the RCF 15 and 18's have a digital amp so, they are quite a bit
lighter. the 15 is 34 kilos and the 18 is 40 kilos. Am thinking that I
will probably only need one 18 inch sub for most of the stuff that we are
doing currently. Specifications are below, starting with the 15:

Phil continues, you will note from the specks that the 18 is 132 dB max spl
so, it should sound slightly louder. Will be interesting to see if it
sounds as good as the MACKIE equivalent which is 10 kilos heavier but, 133
dB max spl
