  If I were you, which we are one in name, I would use the SPDIF!  This will 
insure your best transfer of audio with little or no added signal degradation.  
The SPDIF data should contain all of the information necessary to keep all of 
the tracks separate and in time as well.

  No, I haven't done this, but that's the principle of digital in/outs!

  Let us know how it all shakes out!
