It doesn't matter if it is midi or audio. Of course, it is more likely that you would have been inserting tempo changes when working with midi, but as I said, if you did leave "tempo changes" checked when copying and/or pasting, you will be inserting copies of tempo changes all over the place. If you have, there is a good chance that you have also pasted additional tempo changes into your project. You will need to delete redundant tempo changes before you can change the overall tempo of your project. Just select the entire project and then uncheck everything except tempo changes in the cut dialog.
