Are you using the hardware sound synths that come with your M-Audio unit, or 
are you trying to trigger sounds from a software-based synthesizer on your 
hard drive?

Maybe Gordon Kent has some suggestions with regard WMD vs. ASIO drivers.

hi i am using the m-audio axiom 49 and i have crazy delay. When i hit a key 
about a half a second later or a second later it plays the sound and it is 
hooked up by u s b.
