I think the mic preamps in the Focusrite are cleaner with less noise. Overall, a newer product usually means improvements in converters as well.

I own the pro40 and love it! Everybody seems to be jumping ship to
focusrite, for stability , price, and the preamps you get...
Most people around here (my physical location) who use to own m-audio stuff 
has switchd to focusrite's saffire line, and no complaints...
As of now, the latest edition of the control panel, v2.4 is accessible with 
hsc set that Phil and Tim created, so we're good!

Hi all. I need to purchase a new sound card. I'm looking at focusrite
saffire pro cards. I want to know wich is best the saffire pro 14 or saffire pro 24. And i also want to know if the drivers work well with windows 7 64 bit. The reason i'm looking at these cards is because i don't need many in and outputs. If anyone can recommend something better in this price range
