I agree with Dave on this. I only use a laptop for audio when I have too. You could have a second desktop with a KVM switch. You would have to pay double the price for a hi end laptop over the price of a desktop.

I'd recommend purchasing the lap top for your general purpose needs and re-build or build a new DAW as the desktop. That gives you a full-size machine that allows more hard drives, better cooling, higher speed, slot expandability, etc. Purchase a new laptop as your audio machine only if you have no other choice.
