Hi Dave,
The only problem I have with mini disc is, it's slow to record your set in and each backing track needs to be in the right order. I'd rather have the pain of putting the set together in the comfort of my own home than be on stage trying to pad to the audience whilst sorting out a track listing problem.
My show as one liners and anecdotes between songs, I can't be listening to Jaws whilst interacting with my audience.
The venues I perform never know before hand that I can't see, therefore, I feel I need to be more professional and more competent than a sighted performer. 

I've not come across anything to replace the Mini Disc as yet.

Hi Steve, i've got an old Sony minidisk and though have used other things for backup tracks and or backround music, keep going back to minidisk cause very easy to use and no waste cause can always record over minidisk. Hi Phil,

Just popped in from out of the Sun.
Hey, this Sun thing is quite nice, shame we don't have more of it in England. 

You mentioned, the Focusright Pro 24.
Would that sound card get rid of my Latency problem I'm getting on vocal tracks.
It's really off putting when you hear your voice coming back at you through the headphones slightly delayed. I'm using the Fast Track Pro and have tried several different drivers at 0 latency, still hearing a short delay on my voice.
Regarding old technology, my 1.3 gigabyte Fostex 8 track recorder that came out of a cave man's studio never had latency problems?
Didn't know what latency was until I got my computer although, to be fare, I love my computer when it works.

Phil replied: using a laptop isn't a bad idea as you can set-up playlists in 
applications such as Winamp.  On the other hand, I have on very rare
occasions, had slight issues locating the next track, smile though not all 
the way through a performance.

Phil replied: if the good people who were using MP3 were using higher
bitrates such as 192KBPS then, it's possible to achieve pretty good sound. On the other hand, it's likely that the converters sounded better in your 
Minidisk as I think your using a professional machine.

Phil replied: I am not using one now here either. Using the ZoomH4N with 
16bit 44.1 wave files mixed straight off the PC which, sound better than
Minidisk or, MP3.  I may even put those up to 24bit at some point but as
yet, haven't had the time.  BTW, am getting a mic stand adapter for the
ZoomH4n later on this week. Will let you know how that works out for me.
